I feel so sad for that family. What a mess. Love that you stepped in and it went well. In Baltimore, I used to give a boy a ride to church. Sometimes I'd bring him back to our house afterwards. He'd play with the dog, then sit down and play our keyboard for 40 minutes. At 11 years old he was a great blend of boyish curiosity with a sizable attention span. I miss him.

Agree, not boring.

Re the principal - shame that more administrators can't think outside the box. I think they get hung up in the need to try to make their actions equal, and once they set a precendent for a particular punishment it's hard to do something different with it happens another time.

You are such a sweetheart driving him to school! I feel so bad for him, it must be really hard to be without his mother and a really tired father.
I'm glad your hubby made it home safe and sound. Is it snowing over your way? It is here, and I am thinking we are going to break the '69-'70 record today of 169" in a winter...what do you think? This is crazy isn't it? lol

Welcome back to the hubby... ack. What a work schedule... but then, he did get to go to Korea, that lucky duck. :-D

Sigh... will the mother be able to visit or will the kids go visit her? I CANNOT fathom a world where immigration law comes before family, love, and children's welfare. I hope we can all change that.

Oh, that poor family. But H sounds really sweet. I think it's great that you care so much about your students. I know what you mean about getting sucked into their lives.

I'm glad your husband is back safely, but the work schedule sounds insane.
